Frequently Occurring Activities

Backpack Buddies

Backpack Buddies is a program we run throughout the school year for our local neighborhood disadvantaged children who attend West Gate Elementary. To mitigate weekend hunger they may experience when school breakfasts and lunches are not available, we place single-serving packaged foods in backpacks that can be taken home on Fridays and returned on Mondays to be refilled and retrieved again on Fridays.

Sunday School and Bible Study

We welcome all children to Sunday School and all adults to Bible Study -- 9:15AM Sunday mornings!

Choir

The choir leads the church in song and often offers additional special music during the service.

The choir sings during the second service and rehearses before and after the service.

There is a children's choir as well, which joins the adult choir during special services.

Men's Fellowship

"Fellows of Hope" meet every second Saturday of each month at 8AM at the Bob Evans Restaurant on Balls Ford Road in Manassas.

Prayer Requests

For your special prayer needs, you are invited to use this online Prayer Request Form or to contact us via e-mail or telephone.

Women's Bible Study

Our church ladies meet for an hour each week for good conversation and topical studies of the Word of God.

Youth Meetings

Middle school and high school youth meet monthly to enjoy games, fellowship, dinner and a devotion.

Annual or Irregularly Scheduled Activities

Yard Sale

Normally held in May, this is a chance to bring your spring cleaning to a close and donate your unused or lightly used items for resale to our neighbors. All proceeds from sales are used to support our Missions.

Confirmation

The Confirmation is a two year program of catechists/learning the Lutheran faith, normally provided to 7th and 8th graders. After confirmation, participants can chose to join the church, become an adult member, and receive the Lord's supper.

Easter Egg Hunt

Each Easter, we find joy not only in the resurrection of our Savior but also in the squeals of delight as our younger members and our neighbors' young children join forces to search for those all-important chocolate-stuffed orbs on our church grounds. What a fun way to keep relationships fresh and growing strong with the neighbors!

Missions

Hope Lutheran Church often participates in short term mission opportunities through the LCMS' registered service organization, Mission Opportunities Short Term (MOST). Our most recent trips have been to African and Central American countries, as well as for here in America after Hurricane Florence (2018) in North Carolina.

National Youth Gathering

Held every 3 years, the LCMS provides thousands of youth and adults the opportunity to come together as a community of God’s people to learn more about Jesus Christ, the Christian faith and their Lutheran identity. Youth spend time together in God’s word, worship, service, and fellowship with others from across the Synod.

Rally Sunday

Rally Sunday marks the beginning of our Christian Education classes at Hope, coinciding with the beginning of the school year. Events include a picnic and games after church services.

SERVE Shelter Meals

Once a quarter, Hope Lutheran Church volunteers serve a Sunday meal to people staying at the SERVE Shelter in Manassas, VA. This is a simple and enjoyable way to provide comfort and good witness.

Vacation Bible School

We hold Vacation Bible School each summer half-days for one week, for toddlers through fifth graders. It is a much-anticipated break in summer activities for our youth, and features a different theme each year.
